How to Understand God (HUG)

The monthly focus is a written excerpt taken from one of Jim and Brian’s talks, with a link to listen to the entire talk. In holding to a one-pointed focus on Spirit, each month we post a new written excerpt by either Jim or Brian. The worldwide monthly focus on Spirit helps us collectively deepen our understanding of God.

Do ten percent of the day in meditation.

Full Excerpt~

Do ten percent of the day in meditation. You know for years that’s all I did was keep it that simple. And then I got distracted. I got caught up on all these other processes and psychic clearings, and energy work, and metaphysical this and metaphysical that, and I was doing so many things, oh my god it was just too much, and one day I finally said, “Enough. I’m giving it all up and all I’m going to do is come back to the meditation, and the simple spiritual principles,” like listening to our talks. That’s all I do now. I listen to our talks, I do the meditation, and beyond that I’ll do a little bit of the LAF workbook stuff. That’s it – and I do it all in my meditation. I listen to the talks in my meditation time – my two and a half hours, and sometimes the talks are on that LAF process, or I’ll listen to the Forgiveness Meditation that is on the LAF Tool Box CD, or I’ll just take something out of the LAF workbook just within myself rather than writing it out and just do it, because I know it. Once you know this stuff you can do it inside of yourself anytime. But you have to do it, not think about it. You have to do it – that’s the biggest key. That’s the only way I woke up, was doing it. And then when I started getting distracted with all these other things, thinking I needed to do more and more, I realized that was all getting in the way and that’s why I gave it all up and went back to the simplicity. That’s what we ever have to be watchful for, is to always come back to the simplicity, and the most simple thing is just the meditation, and then just maybe one or two or three other key basic things. That’s why if you look at what we talk about all the time we’ve nailed it down to three simple things: Meditation, LAF, and Accepting Responsibility for your thoughts, feelings, actions, and reactions. Three things is all we have as our core principles, our core tenets in ILM.

So make it simple. No matter what you do break it down, just like I’m sharing here today. Break it down to three core things for yourself, and make sure out of one of those three things that the number one thing is the meditation – that’s a given. Then work it. Work it with yourself, inside of yourself, journal it. Start writing more. Start journaling more; it’s a powerful tool.

…We’ve got to schedule these things in. I know our lives can get busy, we’ve got work, careers, we’ve got family, and we’ve got friends. But how important is God to us? How important is our own liberation? Is that important enough to schedule in at least the ten percent of the day (in meditation)? Because that’s what it takes if you really want it.
