How to Understand God (HUG)
The Monthly Focus – going HOME-work is an invitation to take the spiritual teachings shared by Jim Gordon and Brian Yeakey into your own spiritual practice and daily life to deepen your understanding of God. Through listening, reflection, and self-study, we invite you to work with these sharings in your own way and allow your inner guidance to lead the process.
October 2026 — Give God A Chance
Give God a chance by letting go of our expectations, reactions, and attempts to control what is happening, and instead become present, receptive, and focused on God. As we surrender what we think things should be, and allow God to lead, we create the space for God’s loving to move within us, awaken us, and guide us toward greater freedom and our true nature as Soul.
We invite you to take some time to listen, reflect, and deepen your understanding of God.
Below is the link to the latest live video stream by Jim Gordon and Brian Yeakey, along with a few examples of going HOME-work to inspire your own self-study. You can use these as a starting point and allow your own inner guidance to move you through this loving process.

Examples of going HOME-work:
- As you listen to these sharings, do you hear ways that you could Give God a Chance?
- Where am I trying to control, force, or make something happen instead of becoming neutral and allowing God to work in me and through me?
- What are my reactions showing me about the expectations, judgments, fears, or belief systems I may still be holding?
- Am I allowing God to lead me, or am I holding on to my own ideas of what I think God, my path, or an experience should look like?
- Where have I already given God a chance and I see it working?
Contemplation Exercise:
- “The soul knows its way home. And if we will allow the soul to lead us, to pull us, to lift us, it will bring us home just on its own.”~Jim Gordon
- “God, I give myself up to you. I am open to you for you to do through me, in me, to do me.” ~ Brian Yeakey
May this practice support you on your journey Home to God.
