How to Understand God (HUG)

The monthly focus is a written excerpt taken from one of Jim and Brian’s talks, with a link to listen to the entire talk. In holding to a one-pointed focus on Spirit, each month we post a new written excerpt by either Jim or Brian. The worldwide monthly focus on Spirit helps us collectively deepen our understanding of God.

February 2024 — LET’S MAKE IT ABOUT GOD

By BRIAN YEAKEY

Monthly Focus ~

GOD FIRST & GOD ONLY – MAKING IT ALL ABOUT GOD!

It really is about making God first, bringing God present.

Not leaving God there then when we’re done with the meditation, but getting up and bringing God with us. So that, truly, God walks with us in our daily activities regardless of the circumstances and the details, no matter who, no matter where, no matter what, no matter when. We can always open that door in our consciousness to allow God in to be present with us, or if we say to be present with God. It’s really all one and the same. It’s just the Beingness, and it is being present here and now in that Beingness. Then it’s just a matter of doing that consistently, moment to moment.

Full Excerpt ~ Brian Yeakey

It really is about making God first, bringing God present. Not leaving God there then when we’re done with the meditation, but getting up and bringing God with us. So that, truly, God walks with us in our daily activities regardless of the circumstances and the details, no matter who, no matter where, no matter what, no matter when. We can always open that door in our consciousness to allow God in to be present with us, or if we say to be present with God. It’s really all one and the same. It’s just the Beingness, and it is being present here and now in that Beingness. Then it’s just a matter of doing that consistently, moment to moment.

So, the meditation practice, where we give our undivided attention to God and that focus to create the space inside to be in that, we want to also now bring it to our day to see how we can live in that all day long. So it’s like a meditation all day long, but with our eyes open, with being able to function in this world, to move our bodies about, to be able to think and to do and to feel all the things that come with this human experience. At the same time, to keep that door open so that that Grace, that Loving, that blessing, the truth of the Divine, the Spirit is always in our forefront, in our awareness.

Sometimes we come up with things like putting God into things. We’ve talked about these things over the years. Well, how do we do that? We ask that God go before us. We invite God in. We ask. We open to receive. We place God before us as we go throughout the day and into different situations and activities. Even when we ask and invite and do all these prayers and sending God before us, well, I ask you this, are we really sending God before us, or are we opening and allowing God to walk before us? I’ll let you figure that out. You’ll learn through your experience.

But it is simply, that creating the space to open and allow God to come in and be with us and move, so that no matter what we’re doing our attention at some level, to some degree, always is on God – so that we stay focused and centered in that action of loving, so that we bring God present, that we put God into every experience.

Here’s the other thing that sometimes we may in a sense, maybe not understand so clearly about putting God into things, to pray for things, to send the light to things, to ask for God’s blessings on situations. In doing that, what are we really doing? Because sometimes, when we think about sending that Loving, that God is, to situations, that there can sometimes be an action of where we’re creating separation.

Like, oh, “I’m putting the light over there,” but what about here? What about here? Do we sometimes give our light away because we, in a sense, have more concern about these actions that we’re moving towards or that are going on than we actually have for our own divinity?

In other words, do we sometimes make other things more important than ourselves? We’ve heard over the years about taking care of ourselves. What is that joke? “It’s all about me!” It is all about me. But really, what is that and how do we do that?

Well, maybe an easier approach that might help make it a little more clear, maybe, I say, because we’re all wired a little differently sometimes. Maybe it’s not about me. Maybe, really, it’s all about God. What if we started having that as a different approach rather than “it’s all about me”?

Because what was I saying earlier? In our human consciousness, we have a tendency, it’s like gravity, it pulls us down; we have a tendency to get focused on the outer, to get focused on learning the lesson if we’re trying to fulfill the karmas in that way. It’s still down and out focus. So it’s not on God now. We’ve just let our attention, our awareness, now drop into the frequency of the world rather than on God.

So, just there, and allowing our attention to drop, we’ve allowed ourselves to move back into a state of separation. We once again are now experiencing being separate from God. Sometimes, unbeknownst to ourselves, in sending the light, even asking for prayers, we kind of create a separation.

What I’m trying to get at here, is bridging that gap so we don’t create a space of separation, whether it’s putting something out here or making it all about me and focusing on my lessons to learn them, but making it all, whether we’re doing “sending the light out here” or if it is about us, how about if we make all of it about God? It’s all about God.

It’s all about God. Because if we make it all about God, what are we doing? Well, if we make it all about God, God is in all things. Right? So, if we make it about God, well then now I’m in the Oneness, now I am taking care of me, and now I am taking care of them because I am choosing to make it all about God, choosing to hold my attention and focus and awareness in God – so that even when I’m sending the light or loving others and the situations, that I’m doing it in God and it is all about me because I’m in God and they are in God, so I’m all doing it through God. God first and God only.

It often really is our approach, and how we approach this inner journey, these experiences, in how do we live this in the world as we’re attempting to live it in Spirit. How do we bridge the gaps? How do we make it so it really does become all One, so we know our Oneness with God and all things, and all of God’s creation?

So, we want to begin to take that which we are opening to in meditation, and even in meditation we can apply this, to begin to expand our awareness. And to pay attention, when we even hear the words that are shared by awakened Ones that are teaching a pathway like this, to what we do with those words, how we use them. Because sometimes, we take the words at face value and begin to apply them and maybe not fully understand what is meant behind the words and doing that action.

In truth, this is all about an internal action, not about doing things in the world, not about techniques. It’s an internal action of simply loving. It’s all it is. No matter the details, the information, the techniques, whatever is taught about how we can do these things out here, it’s always about the interaction internally. All these techniques and things we learn are simply ways that we can begin to engage ourselves, that in doing them, we can begin to experience now a movement, an awareness, an awakening to what that is spiritually that we’re attempting to do through all the techniques.

That’s why it’s a key in here, we always talk about, this is about personal experience. This is about our own personal experience, and the way we have experience is to participate or engage ourselves in these interactions. It is only through engaging ourselves that we can have the experience to even have the awareness.

Contemplation

    • It’s all about God.
